Running lights not functioning after wiring backup camera to trailer

I am installing a wireless backup camera on my 1983 31' Sovereign. It has to be powered, so I wired it into the license plate light wiring. Now my running lights don't work. Turn signals and brake lights function, but no running lights. Apart from checking the fuse, any other ideas what might be happening here?
