running light corrosion

I spent the morning washing and waxing our 2007 Safari and found the running lights on the roof were rusted and corroded beyond belief. I tried some chrome polish which removed some of the gunk on the chrome surround but they still look terrible. Anybody else have this problem with such a new vehicle? It would seem the supplier to AS really shorted them on quality.

How close are you to salt water?

We have only spent about 10 days total by the beach in 14 months. We are about 60 miles inland.

salt water? that's not needed to cause corrosion...

ALL that is needed is oxygen, just ask the folks in j/c...

yep the running lights are crap and corrode badly...

along with the screws that hold them on RUSTING...

many of us replace all the screws with stainless, there are several threads on this, and the corroded runny lights.

the new units have led lights so at least the bulbs will last longer....
