Retainer Screw on running light?

I've been lurking around this Forum for several months now gathering excellent information as I fix-up my 23-foot, '74 Safari. I've mostly been removing old Vulkem and silicone. That's taking much longer than I expected.

While replacing the rear clearance lights, I found one had been badly reattached by a PO. They drilled new holes to attach the light instead of using the old ones. The original holes are bare. By that, I mean there is no screw attachment like on the other light holes. Are these items retainer screws? If so, where can I get some? If not, what are they and how do I find them?

Welcome to the forums.

One possible scenario is that your clearance lights were originally riveted in place like mine are. One of the rivets completes the 12 volt return path to the skin.

Problem is that over time, the electrical connection between rivet & skin can go bad causing the light to not work. The PO might have re-riveted once or twice until the skin hole got to big to hold either a rivet or, in your case, a screw.
