Replacing interior lights

I have an 86 Excella and am trying to replace some of the square plastic interior lights with more "residential" fixtures. I have a couple of spot lights but can't seem to get them to light. Have power to them using same wiring as old lights....what am I missing, do they need to be special lights? Sorry, probably a dumb question but thought I'd ask.

The interior lights are 12 volt and run off the battery. Your residential fixtures are probably 110 volt and need to be run on shore power.

Thanks. I'm on shore power and they still won't light. I'm talking specifically about the two over the sofa. Should they or do I need to find a 12V fixture?

Appreciate your help. Any good sources you'd recommend or websites?

You need 12v fixtures. All lights in AS are 12v. On shore power (ac cable) they are powered by the converter.
