Replacement Hi - Lo Light Rocker Switches
I need to replace a couple of the hi - lo 12 volt light rocker switches in my Airstream. Two of them are mounted on the ceiling next to the 12 volt ceiling light fixtures.
Where can I get a replacement for this switch?
Thanks,
David

There are very few of those left. I'm not sure if Andy at Inland has any but the Out-of-Doors Mart has that same style switch that says pump on it. the same switch was used for water pumps. the part number is 500459

I need the same switch. Unfortunately the out of doors mart pump switch is a two position switch (on/off). I need a three position switch (hi/off/lo).

I have not found a source for replacement hi low rocker switches in my 86 classic. I went internet shopping for "double pole, double throw" rocker switches and found lots of automotive electrical suppliers, but nothing that looks like the one Airstream used. I have 5 of them in my trailer, and one has corroded its blade connectors to the point they have broken off.
I'll bet some Airstream dealer has a couiple of them laying in the back corner of their parts racks. If anyone comes accross a source, I would be interested in a couple of them. Mine are ivory in color.

I also need the 3 position switch by the door (hi/off/lo) which controls the overhead lights for my 1993 30' Excella. Has anyone located a source? Thanks.

Unfortunately, that switch was discontinued by Airstream, a few years back.
I have been looking, but still have not found a satisfactory replacement.

I found one brand new one in my parts bin. Purchased at Jackson Center years ago, still has the price tag on it of $4.40. White, Hi, Lo. I am going to make a killing on this! How about $10 plus whatever it cost me to send it to the first person who sends me a private message.
Sorry, I only found one. First response gets it. I'll let you know if you are too late....

They sold for more than twice that when they were available.

3 way switch solution

The 2 position pump switch will work, but you have to get creative.
I bought one and used my original 3-way ivory switch with the back electronic part of the new 2-way. They are a perfect match.
First, you need to sand or scrap the surface of the new switch's "off position" to expose bare metal.
Then, to get the switch to stop at center "off" position, the trick is to carefully drill out the middle square hot contact from your 3-way and then take the contact and rotate it 90 degrees and put it in the 2-way switch.(You need to drill out the 2-way middle contact and disgard to do this, of course.)
Then you have to turn it over and soder the tail back on to the contact.
Now drop the old rocker piece from your old switch into position, dab some lube around, and line up and snap the two back together.
It works like new!

Hello All, I'm looking for new 12 volts switches for my interior overhead lights. I'm looking for on/off/on and on/off switches in white. I'm not looking for the original switches, but something modern. I like the JR Products, but I can't find on/off/on switches. Has anyone found anything out there? Thanks.

Hello all. Grainger supply has on/off/on rocker switches in stock. Also Hubbell devices and Cole Hersee also still make these 3 position switches. You may have to modify because size may be a problem.
Also most marine stores carry a wide variety of switches.

Howdy folks! I realize this is an old thread, but was wondering if anyone has come up with a solution or if airstream makes a replacement 3 way switch for overhead light. The Hi Lo one. There is a part number hand written on mine is 500435. Any help would be appreciated

I was able to repair my broken hi low rocker switch some years ago. I failed another "on off" switch just this last trip. I was able to repair that one too.
Other than salvage yards, I know of no source for the original switch. Maybe someone will chime in and offer some advice.

Here’s what mine looks like. I think the loose metal piece was attached and broke off from the fixed one attached to the inside of switch. Can anyone verify? I’m going to try to fix but want to make sure I do it correctly.

I’ve searched hi and lo (no pun intended) for a pic or sketch of what it’s supposed to look like to no avail. Does anyone have a pic of a working one?

Ok in case anyone else has this problem... the back of my switch with the spade terminals came apart from the switch side. I was confused when I saw other pictures posted of the whole switch intact. Each side should look like this attached pic and you have to be careful that the metal rocker pieces stay in place and not let the black tube inserts with springs to fall out. Initiallly I mounted mine backwards so while it was apart the 2nd time I took pictureas since these are NLA. Funny story, when I first bought my airstream and I stopped in New Mexico I think it was to get some parts the technician kept telling me that several of them were in LA, and I kept asking him could he get them get them overnighted from LA to there and he said no they’re NLA! I later found out that meant no longer available!!! Anyway, happy day, Hi - Lo switch is working!!!

A great source for anything electrical/electronic is DigiKey. I have to warn you, you have to know exactly what you are looking for. They have over 12,000 Rocker Switches to choose from. Link is below:
