Can powerstrips be used in an Airstream, 30amp trailer?

IF you are talking 110 volt multi-outlet surge suppressor type power strips like you would use on a computer, or whatever, certainly. I plug my computer into a surge suppressor power strip as a matter of routine. I dislike the stench of fried computers...

The 110 volt AC duplex outlets in an Airstream are much the same as the outlets in your house.

Of course, as with your house, you don't want to overload the circuits, or cause a shock hazard. With an Airstream or a house, you are limited to how many amps you can draw without popping a breaker...

Keep in mind that running the Air Conditioner in a 30-amp Airstream does not leave much power for other things. A primary problem would be trying to use a hair dryer at the same time the AC is running--pretty much bet you will pop a breaker and have to reset it after you turn one or the other off...

Yes and no. Depends on exactly what you plug into them, and how much amperage it all draws. More outlets on one circuit makes it more likely for you to overload said circuit, just like at home.

But here's the kicker. If your shore power cable is surge protected already, plugging in a surge-protected power strip gives you no benefit at all, except for the extra outlets, which as previously noted may not be a benefit either.

On outlets that I use for low amperage devices- phone chargers, the television, etc., I use a strip or one of those things that gives you 4 or 5 outlets at the outlet, just like I do at home. They are not all on at once, but I can leave them plugged in so it's convenient.

Just use common sense. A coffee pot and a hairdryer on one circuit, used at the same time, is a bad idea.

Common sense is supposed to be common...if only it was more common?
