Nice looking Ikea low-voltage wall lights

Found these at my local Ikea.

"HusVik

Wall/reading lamp, silver color

Halogen bulb GY6.35 12V 35W"

HUSVIK Wall/reading lamp - IKEA

Decently made aluminium, hinged versus ball joint ( which broke on the originals.. )

Ripped out the 120-12v ac transformer ... Removed the cord.. drilled holes for wires and existing rivet holes. wired straight into 12v..

Will probably replace the bulb with LEDs ...
Can't decide if I want to add a Buck Puck ( to make it dimmable ) or use a direct replacement bulb..

Looks great!

I'm considering trying to replace lights in my 2005 Bambi (they're all the oval plastic ones, not the recessed ones) and have been wondering, can you simply put an LED bulb into any fixture?

5 or 6 years ago, when I was just beginning the eventually finished "contemporization" of my 76 ARGOSY, I did the same thing as Chromis.

I too ripped out the transformer, cut the 120v line and hard wired the IKEA lamps into the trailer's 12v system.

One of the fixtures can be seen on the office wall, just down the hall from the galley. Another serves as a reading lamp over my bed.

Slightly different looking 2012 version of the lamp, same idea/uses.

Lynn... in an AS, yes, in most cases. We replaced ALL the interior halogen and incandescent bulbs and exterior light bulbs (except the running lights...that's next) with LEDs...even the storage compartment lights ... Check out LED4RV.com (or PM Dan@LED4RV on the Forums; or email Dan@LED4RV.com)...you can no doubt find exactly what you need. He's very helpful and has good customer service.
