New wiring harness

I cannot get the wire out of the frame to replace it. I have the access door open and I drilled out the 2 rivets that were visible holding the wrap to the frame. IS there a strain relief somewhere? I can feel the wire going into the frame at the access hole. I even put a come-along to it and no luck. Any ideas?

What wire are you working with? Any wire or wires that go into the trailer body are almost going to be impossible to remove without removing some interior skin.

Ho about some more information.

It is the wire with the seven way plug that plugs into the tow vehicle. It then goes through the frame and out a small hole in the frame where there is an access panel.

The splice between the cord and the trailer wiring should be made in the access panel. If you can not remove the wiring from the frame you can run the new one attached to the frame and then into the access panel.

I was able to fish the new wire with a fiberglass rod and all is well. On the other hand the manual says there is a back up light wire but I have no back up lights. Was this an option and if so where does this wire terminate? Also there is a small red light attched to the inside frame of the main rear access door.Any ideas what this was for?

I hope you get an answer to this, I have the same little red light on the right side of the rear access door next to the 110v breaker box.
Adios, John

Diesel, I took the rear panel off and that small red light has two wires....a ground, and the other was routed to the main AC panel and connected to the neutral busbar(I think incorrectly).I took it out and hooked it up to AC power and the light comes on although it shows no continuity. I guess it was an indicator that the shore power is working? I reinstalled it with one wire to the chassis ground(as I found it) and the other to one of the 20 amp breakers.I still have to install my intellipower so I won't know what's up for a while, but will let u know.John

It sounds like the light that was attached to the neutral bus was a reversed polarity indicator. If the hot and neutral leads were reversed at the outlet the neutral bus bar would be hot and the light would indicate the problem.

Here's a good response to this question - http://www.airforums.com/forums/f447...hts-37834.html

My '74 Argosy had backup lights. I don't know what year they stopped but current Airstreams don't have backup lights.

reverse polarity neon light

I can't believe the answer was in the original manual for the trailer. It says to plug in to shore power and if the small neon light comes on,reverse the plug. So the wire should be hooked from the light to the neutral bus.Duh!
