new lights for my '67

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.

The P.O. put really ugly lights on the back of our '67. I want to get new ones. Which ones can I use? I don't necessarily need to go original. Here's a picture of what they look like right now. The diameter of the ghost circle on the shell is 6 3/4".

I've done some clicking around, I've seen Bargman '99's, Bargman 6's, LED's, bus lights...I'm just not sure which ones will fit on the trailer. I'll drill new holes if I have to. I'll need to know if there's a backing plate I need for the lights. The existing holes are at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.

If anyone out there is an expert on this, let me know, and I'll do any measuring you might need!

LED's might be nice to minimize getting rear-ended on the road...I think I'd like to do that. If not, just new lights would be good. We're re-wiring the trailer too eventually, FYI.

Thanks very much!

Ingrid,
Looks like you had Auto-Lites on there originally. They have a 4-screw-pattern like you describe.
If you can find lenses, then you might be able to use a gallon paint can lid and some generic lamp brackets to make a lamp base from. The size is really close.
Or, just get replacement lights from a bus and truck company. Do a search, I believe the truck-lite website has a bunch of stuff that's close.
My wedding cake rear lights are very bright, actually, I see no need for LED's for additional brightness. They just use less amperage, and are the latest and greatest right now.
InlandRV has some nice replacements with LED's on their site. E-bay sometimes has original type lenses for sale.
You're right, though. Those Jeep lights have got to go!

Ingrid,
www.vintagetrailersupply.com has the Bargman 99 repro lenses, you can take a gallon? paint can lid and mount a bulb socket to it and voila...more or less orginal tail light assemblies Or you can go scounging around in an old mobile home park... I know where there is a 1965 Ritzcraft Mobile Home that still has the orginal tail lights on it and would bet even money they are the Barg 99s

I think I'm going the truck company replacement light route. I just can't afford to be a purist at this point; but those bargman 99's sure are purdy...

These lights are so ugly! bleaugh! But the white part indicates maybe they had the white backup light capability? But then what do I know.

Off to shop...

Tail Lights

FWIW, I just put the 4" round LED lights off the 2005/2006 Safari on my 1973 Argosy.

They cost $25.00 plus $4.00 for the chrome ring at the Airstream store.

OK I've decided...

I want a red, round light cover that will fit the holes on my trailer... I don't want to spend a lot of money.

Can anyone find this for me? The choices get confusing. I don't know what size to get or where to get them.
