Need a replacement light switch-any ideas?

The switch for the overhead lights at the twin bed area of our '76 Overlander has gone kaput. It is a round knob controlling a 6 bulb 3 way fixture. Any suggestions on where to find a replacement? I'm kinda new to the forums. Knob is intact just the switch is fried. Is there anything we need to check in the wiring to make sure we don't fry the new switch? Thanks.

It's usually the contacts in the switch that wear out. The wiring is probably fine unless you are blowing fuses then you have a short circuit.

In time, those switch contacts wear.

You can check the other switches out by turning all 6 bulbs on.

After about 10 minutes, "gently" turn the switch knob "backwards".

If that causes the lights to flicker, then that says that switch has reached it's useful life, and should also be replaced.

Those switches are special to Airstream, and can be obtained from parts stocking dealers.

Can a 2 circuit 3 way switch for house lamp be used on a 1960's tradewind ceiling light?
