Marker Lights Sealing with Acryl-r

I have to install a couple of marker lights (double bull on the rear). Would Acryl R be a good sealant to run around the top and sides (I assume you should leave the bottom open ( or at least mostly open).

As I have one fixture that came with a gasket to go underneath the light, the other has no gasket. Should I use the gasket? I though about using Buytl tape under the light on the one without the gasket. Or should I just screw it against the exterior of the trailer and then seal around the outside?

I'm surprised that nobody had an answer or comment on this. It gets confusing trying to understand which sealant to use in various situations.

Send a message via Skype™ to Melody Ranch
use it

Acryl r is great. You can use it without that gasket because you are actually replacing the function of the gasket (sealing) when you use it.

If you're sealing between the metal base of the light and the trailer surface bute tape will seal, but may be too thick to look good and if the temp is cool when you install it won't compress well. Sealing around the parimiter of the light after in place usually looks like you sealed around the lite after you installed it!! yuk!! I presume there's many ways to do it. I just finished my last teardrop c-light that have alum base plates about the strenght and thickness of reynolds wrap. Parbond sealer worked very well for me. Just a small bead on the base plate back in from the edge. Positive seal, nice flush mount, alum color, easy to work with. Wiped the parimiter with a damp paint thinner rag. Think it was + or - $6.00 a tube from Vintage trailer supply. Seems like I've also seen it as alcoa gutter seal???

FYI, I had someone PM me and recommend Sikaflex 221.

Sikaflex 221 is better for bigger gaps. Acryl R for small gaps.
