Light/vent question '78 Ambassador

The switch that controls lights appears to have a short. Red wire attachs to connector (whatever that flat piece of metal is called) and the connector appears to be loose. The other two are tight. They are riveted to switch. The switch works, but can see electricity spark and lights dim when you wiggle the red wire. Is this something I can fix or do I need to replace? Found the replacement at ODM.
The handle to raise the vent cover is stuck and won't turn with light pressure. Do not want to force it. Where to spray WD40?
Thanks. Jack

Replace the switch.
The binding could be in the screw piece that moves the arms of the vent. Pull the piece out and see if it is binding. Forcing the cover up may bend the pivot shaft and then the cover will not close all the way.

I ended up removing entire light fixture to uncover screw mechanism. Gave it a shot of penetrating oil and left it for a day. Gently turned the handle with a little assist and everything now works like a charm. Thanks for the help. Also ordered three new switches. Give something has to give it up after 32 yrs.
