Light shade needed

Hi all,
I need one light shade which was missing when I purchase our 62 Bambi. Don'yt know if any other models/years had the same one but I sure hope so. See Photo. If no one on the forum has one to sell, is this something that Inland RV sells?
Thanks so much for your help. This Forum Rocks!
George

Hi George;

I don't think you can find these to buy. - But I am sure that you can find some steel fabricators that can find a similar sheet metal with the small holes - or a similar design to bend one for you.

We have them in the 63 GT and there is not much too them. If we were not keeping ours I would have gladly sent you one or both - but for now we are restoring the back dual voltage system and adding a rub strip to the backs...along with the fiberglass light difusser material I just picked up from a really kind forum member here (Mel) whom sent it off to my International Postal service (Steph - tin sista).

Good luck with your search.

I have a similar search looking for the sheet metal used on the 61's for mag racks and and shelves. It looks similar to the aluminum door screen savers used on the screen doors today.

Yes - Gahanna Hardware here in town and Zettlers Ace Hardware over on Innis Road.

Sorry - just picking on you - but they do have it. I'd try any older hardware store. All that stuff is is steam radiator screen that Airstream adapted for their own use. It comes in 3' x 3' foot sheets locally and in silver or gold tone.

About 50 miles east. If you can't find the screen locally let me know and I can ship it to you.

Wow your offer is so kind. I will have to store it away for a bit - we have to think on the accents we want to do in the Overlander. We still have some - but are missing the section for the front shelf - but as you have mentioned it comes in 3 foot sections so we will have to think of a design to incorporate that length - as the section I think is 5 feet long continuous but could be mistaken.

Will check it out tomorrow and PM you on your kind offer.

Didn't realize you needed that length. You can get that from these folks if you want to spend the bucks.

Gary that is perfect!!!

Little light bulb....I know VTS has a fab site and all - but between knobs and grills - it would be great if there were a list of all this stuff that is still available from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

I am sure time and time again throughout these forums people ask the same things and make searches looking for exactly what you have just provided in a single flip of a key

Still need the small pieces as we are missing a couple of the mag racks. So I will keep in touch

We could always start a thread called Odd Parts Sources and keep adding to it. I'm kind of a hound dog when it comes to finding stuff. A few days away from landing a supply of original 70's 3 way light switches.

Can you post a pic of your magazine rack. It's just 3 pieces of wood frame isn't it with a routed groove for the screen? You could knock that out on the table saw and router table pretty quick.

You know most of the cool little features in the older airstreams are pretty easy to fab and recreate.

this is the mag rack - real easy as you sayClick image for larger version

The lights too - the cone lights in the 61 to the square shades above just need a little work and a source for some of the pieces needed - like the trim.

Also to note - both silver and gold were used - gold depicting the International trim level and silver for the Landyacht trim levels.

Router and table - something the honey will have to teach me!!! worked with most of the other tools but not the router.

Your odd parts source sounds like a good idea - has one been done here yet???

Was looking at this one the other day on the VAS site. Nice grill and lights. Is this like your set up?

I am sure that ours too had a goucho couch - but we are thinking of upgrading to either a wrap around dinette or L couch system instead.

We will be using some of the cabinetry from the excella - all sanded and re-stained. Nice updated services will also be included - but it will keep it's vintage feel and that is why we want some of the cool accent lighting and mag racks and shelf grills to stay the same.

Actually that photo (according to Vintage A/S is a 61 Overlander) - of course nothing was standard at that time. Here another shot from the same trailer. And you might be interested in this on Ebay..!

Yes you are right - looks like the difference is California vs Ohio. Our is a Santafee Springs CA model. With the full fridge in the front and the full back counter with the toilet on the road side and tub on the curb side. Also we have the straight kitchen counter rather than the L shape one from Ohio (which I like better!) Might just get Hubby to fab that feature into the cabinetry - the stuff in the 61 is pretty much toast so he has a rebuild on his hands there. The bedroom and bathroom do not seem to be that bad though.

Thanks for the tip on e-bay...will keep a watch on it...
