LEDs

I need to extent my battery life as much as possible as I am rarely at a location with hookups. Has anyone had experience with LEDS as a replacement for original halogen lights?

Are they as bright as the originals?

I have replaced 6 of my 1156 bulb lights with LED replacement strips.
I find them adequately bright, but it is a whiter light than I would prefer. I used 2 zip led strips to replace each bulb.

The current fro each light is reduced my 90 percent or more. Total load from all 6 at once is slightly less than one 1156 bulb. In my case I seem to be saving 10 or more amp hours per day.
Here is an informative source
LED Lamps Replace Hot Incandescent and Halogen Bulbs in RV and Boat Interior Lighting Fixtures

I think they also have halogen and other replacement options

Do a search, plenty on this subject. That being said, we boondock a lot and replaced I/2 of our interior lights ( dual light fixtures ) with LEDs and are extremely satisfied.

These are available at the Airstream Store.

Since you have a newer unit with halogen lights, they might be a good replacement.

We replaced the dinette lights and the bed reading lights with LED's from the Airstream store. The dinette lights (warm white) are much too dim, unless you like candlelight. The original halogen bed reading lights were too bright, so these new LEDs are perfect. I think we'll replace all but the halogen ceiling lights, as we don't need them for boondocking.

These seem to be a better option for replacing the 1141 / 1156 lights:

LEDTrailerLights.com - RV LED interior ceiling light 1141 1156 warm white

I've installed a few and have been happy with the results, they are a nice pleasing, warm white color temp.

We have replaced the under cabinet and indirect lights in our 2004 CCD with warm LEDs.
We used 10s for the under cabinet and 6s for the indirect.
The reading lights are next on our list.
We order from SUPER BRIGHT LEDS - LED Lights & Accessories
We plan to keep the ceiling halogen for the time being as we rarely use them and only when we have electrical hookups.
We are perfectly happy with the LED quality and quantity of light.

We have a 2005 Safari, will we have to replace the entire light fixture?? or can we just replace the bulbs with the LED's?? We plan on doing more boondocking, so need to look at how we can make the most out of our resources.
