LED taillights making inverter noise.

Hello Everybody,

I just replaced my curbside stop/taillight on my 72 Overlander. This is the second time for this after first one had intermitten short which I figured from my newfound knowledge acquired here on the forum was caused by bad ground. This was the case. The ground could be moved and was not tight enough. I ordered a new LED taillight which was just a little different than the other one. This one had eight LEDs in a circle and two in the middle whereas the other side has nine in a circle and one LED in the middle. Well when all hooked up and grounded good, on my test to see if everything was kosher I discovered that the blinker worked great but when I step on the brakes the side with the new LED (8+2) made a noise at my inverter ( I think). Anybody got any ideas?

I sent you a PM earlier but I just had another thought.

When you activate the brakes, you're activating the electromagnets at the wheels. I think you're talking about your InteliPower converter (I don't remember seeing an inverter in your trailer) and that's not that far from the wheels on your trailer, right? It might just be some sort of hum or vibration from the electromagnet in one of the brake drums.

The brake circuit should be 12 v. and would not involve an inverter.

DKB' may be correct—the brakes buzz when activated and you may have not noticed that before. Go to the other side and see if you hear it there—get your head close to the wheels. If you don't hear anything near the wheels, the brakes aren't working.
