Hi guys, any cost effective 12v puck lighting you can recommend? I am retro fitting a 1969 Ambassador for a retail concept in Dallas...

Welcome to the forums. What do you consider "cost effective"? You can get OEM Airstream puck lighting that will recess into the ceiling, but they are well upward of $20 per light.

Thx for the note back. We need 15 of them, so I was trying to bring the cost down. Most like you said are +$25, was hoping $15-20ish. Any other thoughts for lighting?

Led4RV.com lists an LED down light for $19.95. Maybe if you talk to Dan, he will give you a break on the price for that quantity.

We used these as replacements for the halogen bulbs in all our puck lights, warm white G4 pins.

Ebay had some of just what you need....seller in Houston. High quality lights and were used in a fashion display.

Puck lights in my 2006 Bambi

Hey To Robert I'm looking to replace my halogen lights w/Led's. How do you like the ones you put in? I'm hoping they won't be too bright...... otherwise may need a dimmer. Has anyone out there installed a dimmer?
Thanks, Mark

Puck Lights

Ikea has a set of 4 led puck lights for about $50. The lights themselves are 12v and come with a 110v to 12v transformer. Simply toss the transformer and wire the lights directly to your 12v system. This gets your cost down to $12.50/light.

Mark,

Make sure to order the "warm white" option to avoid the halogen glare. The 15LED unit works great for reading, the 10LED would work well if you feel you don't the the extra lumens.

Before you chuck the transformer, make sure the Ikea units don't need a driver- they're kind of like fluorescents in that they have some additional (mysterious) electronic device to make them work. Also, if you're going to order online, get a sample. I've gotten some awful LED colors, and the cheap ones sometimes don't last long, and therefore aren't the best value. I use LEDs in my work, and am finding a wide range of quality.

Puck lights

Thanks for the reply Robert. Can a dimmer be easily installed as well? Has anyone done this? It seems like a great way to get the ambiance you want.
Any ideas?
