I really like the LED idea. The reduced output would be my major interest. I do not use the roof halo because I have then the feeling that I am in a stadium... WAAAY too bright. I never find a dimmer that could fit in place of the switches so LED would be the way to go.

What are your thought about the Kodiak model.

Like the idea of the colored one for the upper cabinets.

I like the reduced output, as I found the halogens to be very glaring. I am also getting a couple of 3 watt LED bulbs to test for reading light purposes.

On the plus side......I like the reduced output and the light 'color' is the same. I love the 'mood lighting' that the reds give me from behind the frosted doors of the upper cabinets......makes for a great nite light! And the best part....I can run my entire trailer on the amperage of just one 10 watt halogen.

On the negative..........COST.

I'll report back on the 3 watt model. I do have a 3 watt halogen flashlite, and it is superb! I'm expecting the same from the LED bulb.

BTW, I am now an authorized dealer for IMTRA Marine lighting products.

Yes, I'd say that the IMTRA warm white units are about the equivalent to a 5 watt halogen, dimmer a slightly more yellow. The 27FB has no fewer than eight 10 watt light in the main salon plus two around the closet and shower area. 80 watts of light is enough to make you go blind, especially if all you wanted to do was read a magazine and have a little task lighting. The new output is perfect.

Colored lights would be cool in the upper cabinet, and I saw the result in Lewster's Bambi. Red is both fun a functional, making a great night light and saving your night vision.

I did count once the halo in the 28', all of them, makes 38...

So the change will done from time to time... cause it then would be around $1350

dufferin,

I think your calculator key must have been stuck when you figured the cost. The total price to replace 38 halogen bulbs with IMTRA LED replacements in white (warm or cool) would be $684. If you use some red or blue LEDs, the cost is reduced significantly!

PM me if you need more specific info.

Nope, the IMTRA warm white lights retail for $22. Lewster can get better pricing than that.

Here is the link to the IMTRA LED lights: IMTRA Marine Products

These bulbs would be direct plug for your 28' International. Yes, if you were wanting an integrated light assembly for the other trailer or were looking for a different bulb, it would cost more.

Sorry that it has taken me so long to post these pics. We have camped for a long weekend since the new lights were installed, and we LOVE them. In fact I ordered a few more to fill in a gap and to get LEDs for the swivel reading lights over the bed.

This pic shows the original 10W halogen lights in the row on the left, with the warm white LEDs on the right. I'd say that the light is equivalent in light output to a 5W halogen with MUCH less glare. It brings the light level in the salon to a much more manageable level.

Here is a comparison shot of different lights in the overhead cabinet.

On the left, the stock 10 watt halogen, in the center a cool white LED from IMTRA, on the right a warm white LED from IMTRA.

We ended up putting the cool white lights in the under cabinet fixtures that are over the sink and over the dinette.

Do you also use the G4 side entry for the swivel lights?

No, Imtra has a rear pin led array that does the job nicely. Lewster shipped my order to me with a few extra bulbs that he needed for another project and they were the rear pin g4 in red and warm white. I "borrowed" those lights for a few days to play and really liked them. The red was red. About what you'd expect from a red led. Red would be better in an overhead cabinet or a spot that you wanted to use to help save your night vision.

Chris, Do you know how the Imtra products compare with the Super Bright products?
