Question LED conversion

Hi,

Have contacted Airstream for LED replacement lights and have found a huge disparity in price. Other websites seem to sell similar LED for quite a reduced price. Is there a website that anyone can suggest? About $700To convert all interior lights in a 25 ft Airstream/bulbs only.

Thanks,
Catherine:confused

Consider led4rv.com. I did my 30' Classic. Maybe $200. I even returned a few items for full refund. They were great.

I sent them photos of each type of light. Very helpful.

I used led4rv.com (Dan) and converted every light inside my 27' plus the exterior scare light for around $400. That included the halogens in the ceiling, all the reading spots and the range hood. I didn't bother with the wardrobe light. Also, this was for the brightest he offered.

I'll add my praise of led4rv.com.

Don't do all of the bulbs at once - too expensive, plus sometime you may not like the bulb you bought for a spot, but love it elsewhere. I buy enough to hit the free shipping mark. I started with the lights we use the most often, like the step light and light over the kitchen area, and every few months or so I put in another order to convert a few more light fixtures.

I converted the interior of my 34 for a few days work and less that $25.00.

You can buy rolls of LED light on E Bay for about $12.00 for a 16 ft. roll. These can be cut in 3 in. sections and self glued to the inside of the fixture. If you and solder you can do it.

The exterior fixtures cost about $8.00 for the marker lights.

I modified the brake light as noted on this tread posts 40,49,and 51

If you do your exterior lights, be forewarned there is virtually zero extra wire inside the wall. You will need to clip the wire very close to the fixture and splice on there.

Good to know, thanks. I'd like to convert ours someday, but oddly enough those are the least important ones to change, so I haven't done any.

I as a newby purchased from airstream. Tricky to get the locker ones in, between the carpel tunnel, trifocals and arthritus. It was a funny site to see.

eBay Purchase

Based on a recommendation from the forum, I purchased 10 LED replacement bulbs from ebay:

10x Warm White Dome Bulb 24 5050 SMD LED Super Bright Adapter 1156 1141 BA15S | eBay

I note that the price has dropped since I purchased last summer.

Wanting to minimize the current draw on the battery and maximize life of the LEDs, I increased the value of the current limiting resistors on the LED board. At 80% of the stock current level the light output is still very good.

10 bulbs were sufficient to replace one of the bulbs in every fixture in our 30ft Safari. There are so many fixtures we rarely have a need to turn on both bulbs in any given fixture - but the incandescent bulb is still there if for some reason we need more light.

On one LED bulb I both increased the current limiting resistor as well as disconnected some of the LEDs to create a night light. Turn on the first LED bulb in one of the fixture and the night light is available. Turn on the second bulb for full regular lighting.

The resistors are readily available from Digikey to make any adjustments to the performance of bulbs.

No issues with failed LEDs since these were installed and used heavily since last summer.

A very inexpensive upgrade...

Last year, we replaced all of the interior bayonet-base incandescent bulbs in our 2005, 19-foot Bambi for around $100. See the source we used at the link below:

EverSale.com : LED 2W 12V White Omni Bulb BA15S 1156 P21W Brake Tail 18 5050 SM [EV-BA15S-18] - $4.99

Notes:

1. I have no affiliation with this vendor other than being a satisfied customer.

2. This company also advertises on Amazon. Please note that the shipping charge on Amazon is for one bulb. However, this charge is not multiplied by the number of bulbs ordered. Shipping charge is determined by weight, so the total charge is significantly less than what the link implies. I think the total shipping charge for about 20 bulbs was only a few dollars.
