Interior Light Covers

I bought replacement interior light covers for my 74, but even new the plastic blocks a lot of light. Has anyone found/made a cover with different material that doesn't block so much light? Or does everyone just switch to new fixtures?

Royce put up a thread about building his own LED lights, http://www.airforums.com/forums/f447...ign-40936.html. Perhaps you could adapt his idea and use clear materiel sanded with 600 or higher grit for frosting.

I have solved the problem by using a router and thinning the back side of the cover to let more light to go through (I have only done this with LED lights) not sure what the heat would do to the thinner cover?
