I Want Your Old Lights/Switches Please

Marshall gave me a tip on rebuilding our malfunctioning light switches - the 3 way ones from the 60's/70's. So if you've given up on yours or replaced/planning to replace the entire fixture - can I please have your old ones. These would be the smaller square and round lights.

I plan to try to rebuild them - especially the switches - and redistribute them to the needy on the Forum. I'll pay the postage if you like. P/M me - Thanks..

question

Sorry if this is a dumb question but do you have a picture of what they looked like? I might have one. But then I might not.

They would look like this one. Except on the original the knob tip would be grooved and metal. The wiring colors may also be different - the last one I did had red/blue/black. Thanks.......

This switch is for 1975 and older trailers.

Yes, I was aware the switch is incorrect for the 71 I have. That's why I rebuilt mine. The photo above is what A/S sent me as a replacement - thought it was a reasonable deal at $9.56 each. The one in the photo is the only one they said they now have. It won't accept the knob and the shaft is a different length.

Thus the desire to salvage any that others may end up throwing away. If your at all handy they are really not that hard to do.

An additional note on this topic - I may have actually found a supply of brand new original switches that will fit the 71'ish era trailers - dickering over price. Will add a note if I snag them.

FYI
The switch Overlander posted about (see his photo) works in my 73 but not my 71 (see Ganglin's photo). To further confuscate the issue, the lights in my 71 were not supposed to be used after 69. It seems Airstream likes to use left overs.

It's out of one of the fixtures in our '74. It may have been changed out at some point, it is 33 years old after all.

Ingrid, So..... you're still using that line when you take your glass eye out? I really think that old gag was better when Dean Martin used it in: "The Sons of Katie Elder" to raffle off his glass eye to get drinks in the saloon! Just kidding.... As Rosanna Rosannadana would say "Never Mind" "Jus' flick that sweat ball off your nose!" Happy Trails, Ed
