I have 2 light switches just to the left of my entrance door. The switches operate the step light and the flood light. There is no power to the over door light? Is there anyone out there know which of the switches operate this light in conjunction with either the step or flood light. The overhead light never did work at all.

Hi Bill,

On my '87 Sovereign, the Flood switch powers the patio (scare) light and the Step switch powers both the overdoor light as well as the light alongside the steps. If neither of the two "step" lights work, I would suspect the switch. If the light next to the steps works, I would pull the 1156 over-the-door socket and see if there is power to this socket. Chances are that either the socket or switch is bad and unlikely the the wiring is bad.

Cheers,
Joe

The over door light is the step switch. The scare light is the flood. Wire has probably come off of the switch terminal.

Thanks to both you guys, Joe Chernosk, Excella CM.

Never dawned on me, wire off the switch. Very helpful to know about which lights are operated by which switch.

Now the task to check the switches, I can't wait!

Hope to come back to this post with a positive result.

I have the same question for my 69 safari// there is one switch on the right of the door as you enter, does not seem to activate anything. the scare light switch is further down the wall by the windows. What is the entry switch supposed to activate? my overheads work. so I am stumped. Richard

Well problem solved!

The step light works the step and the over head light.

Upon removing the step switch from the wall, I see 3 wires. 2 wires on 1 side from the switch and hot on the other side, wiggled the wires and like magic everything is good. Thanks to all again for the tips etc. I was not looking forward to a wiring job.
