early '70s tailight LED conversion

I want to convert my tailights to LEDs. I bought some that are close to a fit. Inland Andy has already advised I need to cut off the flange on the replacement lights and vulkum them in. If anyone else has done this I have not started yet and would appreciate any insights. Otherwise, I will document the process as I figure it out for future forum reference.

Culm just put up a thread on attaching these tailights which put the bug in my pants about posting this. Thanks to Cuyd whose photo I shanghaied.

Take a look at this thread for some ideas.

Look at how I fitted mine, see post 40 and 49.

I have one in the works. I will be modifying one of the cans to hold the LED light. I will also have to trim the light somewhat. I'll keep you posted as to the P/N of the light and the changes that need to be made. It's still in the prototype mode.
