Does someone know what this is?

This is on the street side of the trailer, looks like 2 little lights. I unscrewed it, 2 black wires come out of the trailer to where the screws are. I am trying to locate the external radio antenna, I think this is located where the ext. antenna should be. There is coax/radio antenna cable inside, front left, but when I get out of town, no signal. Any ideas?

I believe that is your Fiber Optic Indicator that tells you your rear turn signals are working. You view this in your rear veiw mirror so you are able to "see" if the taillights are working on the trailer while you are driving. Ed

Yep, it's the fiber optic indicator.

That is the taillight monitor. In answer to your other question the radio coax cable is connected to the television antenna. Radio reception should improve by raising and rotating the roof mounted TV antenna.

I have not pulled the trailer at night, I'll check it out tonight in the driveway. Someone had cut the cable to the TV antenna, all I see is the old style, flat 2 wire cable on top, no coax. (and of course the "crank" doesn't work on the antenna) Does the radio/coax just connect internally to the tv antenna assembly?

that was the best turn signal and stoplight monitor ever used, shame they don't use it anymore. you could see it in your rear view and tell if they were working. miss that little thing.

Thanks everyone for clearing that up! So the black wires are actualy fiber cable from the rear tail lights, very cool for 1978.
Looks like I will be replaceing the crank assembly for the antenna and reconnecting the cable, to get the radio to work out of town....

Yes it is connected to the splitter box for the television antenna. For access you will need to remove it from the wall. There will be one cable for the radio, one for the rear tv outlet and one going up to the antenna.
