During our remodel, I pulled the box lights out of our Excella to put in fantastic Vents. I didn't want to keep the kitchen light, so out it went as well. After we finished painting and pulling the antenna, I decided to tackle the living room light situation.
I ordered two sets of Ikea Dioder LED pucks. One set went under the kitchen cabinets, giving us plenty of light to do food prep.
Then, I cut a six foot length of rough cut cedar, left the bark on the sides and recessed holes for the pucks. Wired the whole thing to the original living room high/low light switch, but just capped the low.
It gives us the crunchiness we're looking for, and covers all the holes in the ceiling.
