Combination ceiling light / vent assembly parts 1974 International

I am restoring a 1974 Airstream 27-ft International and looking for replacement shades for the combination ceiling light and vent assembly. The part number in the service manual is 08517. It is 18" x 18.5".

Also, I need one fan crank, part number 02255.

Does anyone have a source?

Those parts are still available from Airstream, so any dealer should be able to get them for you, if they don't have them in stock.

Hi,

Almost finished our '74 A/S International 31' restoration.
We purchased light covers and they are worth every penny.
While you are doing the new cover resto - you should consider converting your original incadescent bulbs to Led's. We did that for the 3 celing lights like yours, kitchen, hallway, bathroom and outside scare light. You wouldn't believe how bright the lighting is now. You can contact Dan Brown at Dan@led4rv.com and he will help you with the conversion.

Bought 3 new covers and for some reason, it seems too thick ??? I am not able to raise it enough for the vent crank rod to protrude thru the new cover. The light switch can be convinced to get into its place. As similar experiences? Many Thanx

Assuming that you bought those from an Airstream dealer, the mold that made the original lenses is still in use today.

The lift arm part does not have to protrude thru the lens in order to work properly.

My '78 sovereign has the more basic light covers like the one in this photo:





Are the lenses you are talking about interchangeable with the ones I have?

If so, do I need to mount them with rivets or do the light switch and vent crank just hold them in place?

Lewis, those are not the same as what the '72 to '77 models use.

Out-Of-Door Mart in NC has them too.

Sorry Aage, but the lenses changed in 1978.

the 77 and 78 are not interchangeable.

Jim and Mitzi: The holes in the new covers did not line up quite right so I was able to drill them a tad bigger allowing the cover to raise more.

Actually neither. You mount them with screws. They need to be removable to change the bulbs or fluorescent tubes, depending on which you have. Either way, you don't want them riveted in place. Too much regular maintenance needed.

The 72 to 77 ceiling light lens, was never mounted with screws.

One end is held in place with the lift handle and the other end is held in place with the light switch nut.

I was talking about the one in the photo in a 78. Just like the ones in my 1983. (http://www.airforums.com/forums/f447...ml#post1272075)

The question was slightly off topic. Thanks for bringing that up, it could have easily led to confusion.
