Clearance lights won't come on.

I've replaced all my red (rear) clearance lights and now none will come on. The tag light included. I noticed as I was looking at the side amber light it went dim then off. Truck relay is good.

Initial wild guess is that the lights aren't properly grounded. Some use the screw that holds them to the trailer skin, and some use other systems. There's got to be a proper contact between the negative side of the light circuit and the metal shell of the trailer.

Best of luck.

Second on the bad ground, my new clearance lights had the same issue. I used a larger stainless screw (was using the same old holes and screw size previously). They all work 100 percent after that.

I do not buy the ground theory. Each light is grounded separately to the body. Only if the body to chassis connection was bad would it cause all to go out.

If the amber lights came on and then went dim and then out I would look for a short in one of the new lights after disconnecting the umbilical cord and checking the fuse in the TV.

The feed to the marker lights is common feeding from the front to rear of the trailer. If you find a short and correct it all lights should then work. That is assuming you only have one short.

That is a definite possibility. They are polarity sensitive.

Is the tail / clearance lighting wired through the 12 volt breaker box in the A/S?

Awww SNAP! I missed it first time around no power at trucks plug meant blown fuse. I was swapping relays. It's fixed now, thanks for your inputs.

Im betting on ground as well ...when I Reno'd mine I ran a ground line to all my lights/etc... everything ran to a buzz bar (by the fuse box) grounded to the frame...as well as screwing everything to the body...i know I'm grounded!!,...LOL... ...Bad grounds are probably the cause of a majority of "weird electrical problems".
