Ceiling light replacement question

Hello everyone. I'm in mid-camper redo and am replacing my ceiling lights with new led fixtures. I need to get this done so we can go camping a few days from now. I have already had to cancel one trip because somehow redoing a camper and having a one year old isn't easy. Huh. Anyway..... I have the ceiling light in the bedroom disconnected and I am seeing a white and purple wire come out from the ceiling. The issue is the new led light fixture has black and red wires. I am sure the new light are probably from china or something. I need direction on which wires to connect so things are safe and work. Thanks in advance!

If you do not have a tester to check the Airstream wiring I think you can assume the purple wire is the hot wire. As for the fixture black is commonly used for the hot wire.

Now that said the LED lights are polarity sensitive. Touch the wires as described above, positive to positive, and see if the light works. If not reverse the fixture wires and test again.

I have a tester. Does that mean touching the ends of each wire and only one will show power? I've never used my multimeter before 😜

Simple

Your multimeter will have two probes. Touch one probe to each wire with meter set on voltage. If you do not get a positive reading, reverse the probes. This will tell you which wire is "hot".

White is negative my unit but positive is brown on some lights and purple on others.
