cable lighting

I have an extra boxed set of these residential cable lights (it's in my "next garage sale" bin) and am wondering if should save them for use in my 73 Overlander. I installed a set in my living room to highlight some art and recall that the transformer is in the line that plugs into regular home receptacle (120V). Could I use this set and just cut out the transformer? I can't determine if they're 12v - but thinking so since they have the transformer box in-line ......

Most likely you could. Probably more than you want to know about the bulbs in the light string can be viewed here: MR16 Bulbs

The transformer must be marked with its output.

It doesn't look like that fixture would hold up to traveling down the road.

Guess I could check that! And you'd be surprised at the beating mine survives in my house ... Course, my house doesn't have worn axles. Guess the cable lights might end up in a knot inside the AS by the time I got to the end of the block. That wouldn't be so good ....

Maybe I'll just leave it in the sale bin ... but there are so many cool fixtures for these cable lights these days. Tho none look much sturdier than the ones I have.
