Anyone know of LEDs for the rear marker lights on mid '70s on the tail lights?

Trying to figure out what to do for these lights:

Red Marker Light 510984-01 [510984-01] - $12.95 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

I want to do LED's, but I cannot find a direct replacement. Trying to avoid using my old lens and case to retrofit LED's into it because its old, not replaceable and I fear the lens could fall out.

Any ideas are welcomed.
Thanks!
Micky

Check out led4rv.com. They will have what you need.

You may want to consider what I did. Look at post 45, 49, and 51 on

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f311...s-23544-4.html

These are so bright and I added a sequencer to turn them on 1, 2, 3 as brakes and directionals. There is no guess work as to what I am goig to do when they are on.

Yeah, I've tried led4rv, superbrightleds, and even the grote.com website. I'm coming up short so far.

These marker lights I'm looking for fit into a recess in the tail light housing that measures 3 5/8" tall by 2" wide. Odd size, since most markers are like the double bulls eye which measure 4" x 2".

I sure would like to find a housing that would work. I found a 2 7/8" x 2 marker light. not too far off, but I'd have to fill my holes and mount differently because the originals are standard 3" on center mounting.

I'm surprised there is not a solution for this. All the other lights have a replacement.

That actually started with the 1967 Mercury Cougar. Ford carried it over to other models because it is retro cool.

Mixter....are you wanting to replace the taillight canisters as well aas the bulbs abd lenses? Last year when redoing our 72 Safari I replaced the canisters (got from Vintage Trailer supply VTS610.) also got the lenses Clear and Red (they dont come with the cans). It used the STANDARD bulbs. I was looking into the LEDs and Inland RV does list some for a 69 to 74. Id give Andy at Inland RV a shout. warning....the items arnt cheap.

No- not replacing the whole assembly, but mine are different than yours. I think they changed design from 1974 to 1975. Mine is a '76.

I actually refurbished mine and pretty pleased the way they came out. I copied Aerowood and installed helicoils so I could fasten them back on better than the original pop rivet. Now that they are all shined up, painted and sealed (man I can't believe there was ZERO sealant on these lenses??? What was Airstream thinking???)

So now that they look good, I've decided to go LED. I bought these for the marker lights because I like the black bases. My renovation theme is black and silver: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more.../Photos&Videos

I'm buying these for tail lights: Sealed LED light kit for old 4.25 Monarch LED-kit2 [LED-kit2] - $179.95 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

Sooo.... if I'm doing some, I'm doing all. Still looking for the Scare light in LED, and the license....

Its that one single little light on my tail light has no direct replacement that I can find.... my options are to use the old plastic, and put in new LED's, OR I've found some motorcycle LED's that are slightly too small, but I can get them to work.

Still hoping someone found a perfect fit
