Adding Exterior Outlet

On our model Airstream chose to put the outside outlet inside the curbside access door. It's a pain so I went looking for a way to add an outlet on the skin. Couldn't find a stainless exterior outlet anywhere - so one day while passing a truck I noticed the cover they have for hooking up an engine heater line.

The cover came from a truck repair shop - the outlet is a 20 amp extension cord replacement end from Lowes. The little Airstream was added to dress it up a bit. It will be added next to the access door and wired to the existing "exterior outlet"

I'm a little confused. The yellow plug looks like it is "female" and would accept "male" gender plugs. If that's so and if there is a "male" plug behind the plate, then is this outlet live when using shore power? If so, that is a hazardous situation. I wouldn't do it.

Now I suppose you won't want the chrome double outlet cover I have.

The only plug is the female end it's just shown apart for clarity the other end is bare wire to be connected to the outlet box.

Neil - you remembered - how funny. No I'm good now and this effort is all your fault :-)

No, I did not forget. I wanted to help you but as time passed I realized how difficult it would be to locate what I wanted. I did find a single outlet cover but it isn't shiny so I thought I had better hang onto my shiny one too. However, your find gives me an avenue to pursue. The 'little Airstream' is a nice touch.
