When I removed the tail light lens covers of my 1966 Caravel, the top bulb receptical had no bulbs in them, left or right. I tried 1156's in the top but were found to be to bright.
The bottom might be wrong too, with the 1157's I found in them.
Any help would be great.
More like three years isn't it? My how time flies when you're in the dark.
There is a good chance your one-year-older-than-mine Airstream uses the same bulbs. Below is a scan of my owner's manual (click on the image to enlarge).
Sorry Tom, I wasn't trying to get smart about anything. I'm really not that way. Thanks for the info. sheet. It lays it alll out there real nice and complete. That sheet is not in my maual. Thanks again

Tom beat me to it. Looks like you have all the info. The modern bulb numbers are not the same but any autoparts store will be able to convert them for you.
I don't have this page in my book either. Had to remove all my fixtures and make a home made list. Thanks
I have a '65 Caravel. The top sockets have a #97 bulb. The bottom sockets have a #1157 bulb in them. The top sockets are hooked to the parking lights, the bottom sockets are hooked to the parking lights and stop/turnsignals.
Thanks guys. TomW's bulb chart did the trick. Since that first post (yes it was more than 3 years ago) I have replaced all of the clerance lights with LED's. Man do they work great, we went about 2000 miles on vacation last summer without a burnout. Very bright at night, they sparkle!
