I did try backing the end off of the new switch, it just clicks so I guess it's on there pretty good...which is fine, it'll match the others once I have to replace them :-p
This new switch was only about $8 so that was nice!

Sorry, but that's the wrong switch.

The correct rating should be 3 amps 250 volts AC and 6 amps at 125 volts AC.

The attached photo shows you those ratings.

Under rated switches, heat up, and they too, can cause a fire.

Photo

Hopefully this photo takes.

This is the correct switch for the ceiling lights, 1975 and older to 1965.

Well crap...I guess I'll look again, this switch didn't have anything printed on it, just on the bag, above where it says not made in the USA

What markings - if any - are on the old switch..?

Have an Ace hardware anywhere close - knob still won't fit:

Wow, look at that price...I went to an Ace to get the switch I got, but since the one I got was the only one they had I'll have to look at a different Ace!

I found the numbers on my old switch, it does say 1A-250V-3A-125V so the switch I got should be fine, yay! Unfortunately it feels like my kitchen switch is about to go and I can't find another switch anywhere! Guess I bought the last one in the county (and the next county!)

The old switch you have, "IS NOT" the correct switch.

The ratings should be as you see them in the photo, posted above, as per Airstream.

Thanks Andy, that's the size I'll look for then, if I can ever find one.
I stopped at six places yesterday and each one kept telling me I didn't know what I wanted. One person actually told me that I didn't want a light switch, I wanted a fan switch. Ahhh!
