1972 safari wire question.

I have a yellow and white wire which powers my back bed lights. Is the white ground and yellow positive? I want to connect my propane detector wires to them which are black and red. So red to yellow and black to white wire, right? Thanks.

Best way to be sure is to use a Multimeter and verify the polarity...guessing can lead to the smoke leaking out of the electronics, and it quits working at that point...

I would second the multimeter idea. My thought is the yellow could be a switched +12v and the white is ground. Get a meter and check it out. You do not want you propane detector wired to a switched power source!

Iím planning to wire it before the light switch so should be constant power.

more wire questions...

when you have a black and white wire which wire is usually the negative? White? I decided to hardwire my propane detector and stove light to it's own shared dedicated wire that goes back to my fuse panel and is on a 20 amp fuse, question is now, the stove light wires are white and black, so i'm assuming white goes to black, and black goes to red positive on the new wires i've installed?
