1969 Overlander interior lens covers
Need plastic replacement covers for 9" round fixtures and 7" square fixtures.
Round has switch in center. I found a round one about 4 years ago at Home Depot, but have been unable to find them local recently. I really do not want to pay $25.00 for this simple cover any suggestions?

Inland and Vintage have the square ones. You are right about the price. I could not figure out any alternatives so I bought them.

You could replace/upgrade the lights. Just a thought.
Personally I bought the new covers for my old lights at Inland RV.

Just to get it out there, replacement switches are no longer available for this light as far as I can tell. There is a similar replacement switch that will go in but is thicker and causes a problem putting the lens back on. The good news is the original switches can be easily taken apart. On one of mine there was just a little corrosion which sanded off easily and good as new.

Thanks, I looked at the vintage site once and decided they want way too much for this plastic stuff molds arenot that difficult to make for this... I know there are others out there somewhere. Mobile homes had these type fixtures in 60's & 70's . Do not need switch replacement they are good. Have thought about replacing fixture, but have problem with the depth. Need something that doesn't hang down very far. Hubby is too tall for the others.

Not sure what your square one looks like - is it anything like this one.

Now that I think about it... while the replacement switches do have a thicker body but the real problem in making them fit is the threaded stem is about 1/4" shorter than the originals. $9 is a real good price from what I've seen. I think at Inland they are over $20 each. You also might not be able to use the original switch knobs. What is this "Mother Ship" you talk about?
The lenses in your picture are missing the hole in the center of the lens where the switch comes through, which attaches the lens to the light body.

Marshall,
The Mother Ship - Jackson Center, Ohio. My local dealer doesn't have old parts records so I call Airstream and find what I need - they send it to the dealer for me.
Just noticed last night that the power feed line to the radio is VERY warm and the radio has static at times. Just by chance found when you turn the front overhead light off the static goes away and the line cools down. Probably ought to move that up on the to do list.... Part number for the switch was 500063 at $9.56 each. I'll post how they fit later.

Marshall,
Check with Oasis RV in Tucson. Everytime I have needed a light switch or a knob for my 75, they went into the back area and had one. They seem to have a good supply of vintage parts.

Here's something that you might be able to adapt also. The round lens is $8.50 through Country Boy Enterprises in Fredonia,OH. 740-587-4675 - ask for Mandy.

OK - the new ones are going back to Airstream - they didn't fit. I coulod have adapted them but that would have required filing the knob down so the original knob would fit it. Marshall - thanks for your post about rebuilding yours - took mine apart and cleaned them well - they are good as new.

If you have a 3 position (off/ lo/ high) light switch above the galley check that. On my 73 Sovereign it was shorting and caused me all kinds of mystery lighting problems till I found it. I thought the dang thang was haunted by some kind of aluminum munching poltergeist. The lights after not working at all would decide to turn themselves on at 3am. At other times after the juice was flowing perfectly, next morning my battery was completely dead. You can get a new switch from an auto parts store.

I have the single turn - just like above the sofa and it seems fine. Thought when I cleaned the ceiling lights and got them working well the problem would end. It's still doing it however. As long as I leave that one front light off the power feed to the radio is cool...? Rebuilding the switch as you mentioned did get rid of the static though.
