1969 Caravel Outside Receptacle Replacement

Hi,

Does anyone know of where I can source a replacement for my outside electric receptacle? It is a single unit (see pics) - mine is rusted beyond repair.

If anyone else has replaced this with something other than what is there...please offer suggestions. I tried cutting a duoble unit down to one...but cannot figure how to secure it in the box in the trailer skin as it would require specially located holes.

I've also added some pics of the latest camping trip - we finally used our vintage canopy - now that took some effort to get setup!

thanks in advance

Hi Julison. Nice vintage look! I find zip at Camping World (not surprised, but easy enough to check anyway). There's not a lot more for 15A 120V AC at West Marine -- usually a good source for corrosion resistant products. Why don't you email the good folks at Out of Doors Mart? Give them the link to this thread and they can see your pictures to know exactly what you are seeking. I'm sure you'll find them helpful.

How about this from Vintage Trailer Supply: 15A Outlet

You should be able to find that outlet at HD or an electrical supply house. Just take the cover with you to make sure the screw holes line up. There are some listed on EBay right now - search Leviton single outlet.

I have one just like it that I'm eventually going to put out on Ebay - bought it last year and decided to use a different setup. Nice trailer by the way...

1969 Caravel Outside Receptacle Replacement

Greetings Julison!

The outlet used on your '69 is identical to the one utilized on my '64, but the face plates are different. The oulet is a readily available Leviton pictured below:

I ordered my receptacle from Westside Wholesale Electric on the web.

You are a little more fortunate that I have been in that there is at least a similar cover plate being manufactured by Bell. Mine has the screw-on cap and I haven't been able to locate one anywhere on the net. The current offering from BELL is aluminum that has been powder coated gray -- I couldn't find mention of a raw aluminum. The powder coated model is pictured below:

These are the components that I ran across as I was searching for the needed parts for my Overlander.

Good luck with your search!

Kevin
