1965 Safari tail light housing

I have rehabbed the tail light housings on my 1965 Safari. I fiberglassed the back and painted the front. When I removed them from the trailer, there didn't seem to be any sealant. I'm thinking about using vulkem to reseal them, but was wondering if I should use butyl tape instead.
