My reading lamps need repair, is it possible and where do I find the discourse on this subject? I know I have seen ideas somewhere but cannot find them even with a search.

The swivel balls for the bullet lights have not been available for about 35 years or more.
Most owners replace the entire fixture with current style lamps.
While restoring/updating our 65 Safari we replaced the broken reading lights with new from Vintage Trailer Supply. They look very good and are very easy to install.....Tim

Actually I sold some cone lights to a member (Cosmos) here on the forum that had bad swivels and he fixed them. He learned how here on the forums, though I have not seen the thread that explains the fix.
Andy is right (DUH). THAT swivel socket hasn't been available for many years. However, if you go to lighting store, thrift store, Wallymart, Target etc you can find lights that use similar swivel. All you need is the swivel part.
I repainted inside of canes bright white, replaced the swivels (got mine at big box hardware store), polished up outside of cone and installed LEDs in 1/2 of them.
Thank you for the suggestions.Walter- do you have pictures of your repaired lights? I'm curious if you retained the original base that attaches to the wall?
I disassembled the entire light.Put the stem in a vise.Put swivel in the socket with a pin to hold it straight. Clamp the thing together(there is a spring somewhere in there that compresses. Very gently tap around the top of the stem and this secures the socket back to the stem. Now I will paint them and should be good to go.I will try to post pictures which I have never tried before. RR
