1961 Tradewind taillights

I have the bargman 99 two bulb three wire taillights. The bottom bulb 1157 is for brake light one wire and turn one wire? The upper bulb is for running lights? Previous owner used whatever color wire to hook from trailer to vehicle and most lights did not work. I have run new wire to back of trailer and am wondering if you can just hook 1 wire to turn and stop or if I should just get new lights. Any help would be appreciated.

I replaced the brake lights on my 63 with these new LED lights...

It's the same size and even the screw holes lined up. I had to use a bigger screw than the original but that also gave me the opportunity to use roofing screws that have the watertight washer on them.
