I would be very grateful if someone could tell me what the bath is made of in a 1965 Safari? I am wanting to recoat/repaint it and need to know the original material. Many thanks
If it's all original, bath parts were made of fiberglass. Stand on your head in the bath tub and look up under the sink through the plumbing access opening. You'll see the fiberglass matt (cloth) on the underside of the sink. Also, look in the rear compartment at the underside of the toilet surround and you should see the same thing. Check with a marine repair facility for best recommendations for refinishing fiberglass. Darol

I just cut a hole for new toilet in mine 1965 Safari and it is definitely fiberglass. It is not easily paint able, but chips can be filled with gellcote.
I agree that marine shop might be the best qualify .

A big thank you to everyone for getting back to me so soon. We've checked and it is fibreglass with plastic panels under the bath tub and toilet. I was hoping to be able to repaint it in situ but I think all of the 2 part options are a bit toxic so will have to look at removing the whole unit and taking it to a nearby marine repairers. Lottie
Our 72 Argosy's bath is made of ABS, a bit trickier to refinish (and repair). We had our shower pan (which was badly cracked) fixed, and the pan, console, and sink refinished by Dr. Gelcoat in Middletown, NJ. The cost was about $500 or so, but the results were well worth it. Some pix (before and after) are here.
