tub removal -- help!!!

Morning all, got a problem removing tub in a 61 Safari, rear bath tub on street side. After removing trim, rivets and screws, still wont budge. Trying to remove drain, the 4 cross members inside the drain broke and now it just spins. After locking p-trap from underneath and trying to unscrew the drain from above but can't get it to come out. Is there a trick to this? How do I grasp the drain to turn it? In advance, many thanks.

In a word. Sawsall.

I had to cut the trap off from below. If you have the low profile p trap you want to save and resue it.

I just ran the saw directly flush with the bottom of the plywood floor and I was able to save the trap.

I've heard sometimes the tubs are glued down, mine was not.

If it has the type of drain with the cross like this + you can take a standard set of pliers and put the handles down in the drain and put a long screwdriver in the jaws to hold the drain from spinning. Then loosen the under side with large channel lock pliers. As old as it is it will probably come out in pieces. Good luck
