Toilet Valve - Replacement
Working on the bathroom plumbing I realized that we have a water leak from the back of the toilet.
Decided to document project the replacement of the valve and post it hoping that it can help other members.
Any inputs or corrections please let us know.
Regards

toilet is out!
Out and up side down for easy access to work.
The Valve has a small crack visible to the eye but not sure if it will be visible to the camera.
So far it looks simple, 2 screws and 1 nut.

Same valve that cracked on ours. It's just my personal opinion but I'd replace the copper feed line with flexible stainless. We used a dishwasher feed line from Lowes or HD and the appropriate fittings to install it. I think the rigid copper connection speeds the failure of the plastic valve. If nothing else, it will be much easier to remove or reinstall.

Same valve, same crack! We did the same as Ganglin & used the flexible braided lines. Did the replacement last year and no problems yet!

We have Pex now and we were thinking on the flexible lines with a and a valve so it gets easier for future repairs. But how is the pex regarding the flexibility? It seems fine.
We were thinking on keeping pex and a sharkbite elbow.
BTW
how much does the part goes for? and any part #?

It probably froze. Well that's what happened to mine when it had the crack in it.

That is a low point in the system and it will freeze and break unless you blow it out with air. If you forgot to purge that valve of water and it is easy to do it will freeze.

update
Well it wasn't that hard or complicated at all to remove. 2 screws and the nut metric #11 and it was out.
Not sure the reason for the crack but it will need to be replaced. Is a very small crack but it leaks not sure if it can be seen.
Does anyone has the part #?

I guess we decided to document it all once the toilet was out.
Not that hard at all, 2 bolts secure the toilet to the flange .
I was under the impression that it will be a small surgery
Was thinking on document the placing the toilet process and post the pics backwards as a " toilet removal"

Thats a good one, but I'm dyslexic, so running it backward will be like running it backward.

A frozen toilet valve is fairly common. One year I forgot to blow out that line and run antifreeze through and ours cracked. Other things to forget are the sink sprayer and the outside shower.
