Toilet Suddenly Stopped Working

Hey y'all,

We've really been enjoying our new AS, but ran into a problem this AM. The toilet does not respond when we press any of the three buttons on the Dometic panel - flush/flush with water/fill water. It is completely nonresponsive. I am fully hooked up to 50 amp service, all other electrical and water work.

I have a 2013 30' flying cloud.

I hope we can fix it - we still have two weeks on the road!

Obvious question first. Is the toilet shut off valve open? Its usually on the floor behind the toilet.

Then I would suggest either a bad pedal valve or clogged with something (probably remote chance). Do you have a hand sprayer and does it work?

most of our bowls are manual and work with a foot pedal and are pretty simple devices. Sounds as yours is something new and improved. Electronic ???? Push buttons ???
I gots no idea.

Yes, this is an "electric" toilet - all controls are on a Dometic panel. No spray head and no foot pedal.

Seriously?

An electric toilet?

Yea, I am "one of those " who rail about needless complexity......

And then I read a thread that complexly validates my position....

Now you will need to bring your Airstream to a shop so that a technician can test the computer in your toilet.... And pay a couple of hundred to restore its function.

Gadgets for the sake of gadgets maybe?

Don't get me wrong, I do assume that you have an electric toilet because that is how the camper came, no one would deliberately opt for the electric chair right?

Our last RV had an electric toilet and the 2 things I would try is 1) kill all power including batteries to see if that resets the control; 2) there is going to be a fuse either in a panel or behind the toilet that may have blown.

I am sorry you think that way. I have a marine toilet in my Liner which operated electrically. It was needed because I could not place the black tank under the toilet. It comes with a a macerator and can push the contents uphill and over 20 feet.

Marine by Dometic Group - Electric toilets

The electric toilet is better than none.

I doubt the electric toilet was needed in this Airstream, and it seems that an electric toilet that doesn't work is not much better than no toilet at all.

Just sayin, but reasonable people can disagree...

The toilet came with the AS like that - I bought it off the dealers showroom floor. I am wishing for a manual one right about now!

Like the old saying goes " *#@! flows downhill." So that works for most AS's but if you need it to go uphill you gotta try something else. I guess is the something else for those times.

New and improved sometimes ain't...

Sorry about your dilemma.

Will it at least dump?

Are there no emergency backup provisions?

An electric toilet. Does it have the "Power Wipe" attachment?

Where is the genius engineer who had the brilliant idea to put an electric toiled, with no provisions for manual operation into a travel trailer?

So I was in South Korea a couple years ago. The hotel had a fancy toilet seat, and after a couple days I braved using it. Heated seat(three levels) for cold mornings, water spraying bedae <sp> with multiple temps, air dryer (multiple speed), manual use or single button automatic use.

Still don't know if I want one in my home here state side.

Should be a manual for the toilet in your packet of goodies from AS. Try to find the one for the toilet, it should have info in there. Easy fix if I were to guess. I have a portapotty in my Avion, and it has a battery, so I guess it is electronic too. Try to find and read the manual or go online, the info is there. Jim
