Toilet replacement '88 Excella

Trying to replace toilet in my TT. Finally got old one removed and tried to rotate the toilet flange so the new one would be straight, but it would not budge. I could see the drain pipe start to flex so didn't continue as I was afraid of breaking something. Has anyone ever used a flange repair ring on top of the original ring . The repair rings are are made of stainless steel and are about 3/8" thick so that would raise the whole assembly up that much and I don't know if there is anough room on the underside of new toilet. Any comments or suggestions.
Thanks nm1oqrz
