So we had the Trailer out to the coast this weekend, and on a couple of occasions, found some water on the floor around the base of the toilet. It wasn't a lot of water, and it didn't appear immediately when we flushed the toilet, but would consistently reappear after a while. Anyone know what the cause, and fix might be?

Could it be condensation? Is yours a porcelain/China toilet? If so, depending on weather conditions, if you were/n't using AC, with Windows open, etc., there are lots of conditions for condensation.

But if it wasn't all over the pedestal, you may have a misfitting seal. Do the 2 bolts appear evenly tight? Is the bottom of the toilet touching the floor all the way around?

Put some food coloring in the bowl, then flush and see if leak matches it....I used this trick last week to determine my toilet had a leaking base seal.

I don't think it was condensation. I will have to check the bolts. The food dye is a good idea.

This could also be slosh from the water in the bowl while towing. It has happened to us while on the road and we went up or down a steep entryway to a parking lot.

Of course if it happened while sitting still then ignore that and look at foot valve mechanism and the base seal for cracks or leaks.

Condensation

Cracked pex fitting at back on flush line

We had a puddle to left of toilet - no source was evident - believed condensation.

Rear plumbing and black tank destroyed - repaired and found a pex fitting leak - replaced - have not seen water since - check for a cracked fitting - believe variable water pressure may be the reason the leak comes and goes, but in time it likely will get worse.

May be condensation as we are in a dry climate and were not when we first saw the problem.

Powder on floor or paper towels taped around area may help you trace the source.

Ours did that too, turned out the water line in the back of the toilet would occasionally drip and gravity just put it alongside the base of the toilet. I turned the fitting a little tighter and it's been ok for this past trip.

of course if the roof vent is open and it's rainy and windy.... and you think EEWH who did that on my nice floor, then you realize it was you...

On the Avion I had a fantastic fan put in the bathroom - greatest thing in the world - condensation from shower GONE in six seconds. Evidence of chili dinner? What? it smells like rosebuds in here.

Leaky line happened to me, simple zero money fix.

OK, it might have been condensation. It might be the seal at the base. Or maybe a pex fitting. Woo Hoo, this is fun. :/

Our first trip in our new 25 we had same problem.
It was the "O" gasket that seats the toilet to the floor. When we looked into the bowel with the valve opened you could see the ring across the opening , out of place. The toilet was bolted down tightly across the gasket... "Factory installed!"
Easy fix by lifting the bowel and resetting the gasket.
Good idea with the food coloring.

Had same problem with new 2016 Flying Cloud. Back to dealer (under warranty) leak at conceptions.

Mine was dripping on the outside. I will try that food dye, that is a good idea. It will determine whether it is condensation or not.

Our toilet leaks once every trip a bit of water at the back of the base. I was thinking it might be from too much pressure as it seems to be by the shut off valve? Weird though, that it only happens one time and the rest of the trip is bone dry...

I had this happen and found it was the handheld sprayers valve was sticking intermittently and leaking on the floor.

Mine is not every trip. When it happens, it only happens at the beginning and then nothing after.

I think I have the exact same problem, a minor drip directly underneath the foot valve. I've seen a water droplet coming off the bottom of that black valve cover (or whatever it is; see photo; leak not included) under the foot valve. Did you install your own new foot valve? Is there a video or a website that will show me how to do this? Or is that something best left to the professionals?

I forgot about this old thread. For what it's worth, I resolved my issue by hand tightening the plastic compression nut by the toilet shut off valve. It hasn't leaked since.

So am a newbie and experienced the same problem while dry camping a few weeks ago. Note the trip was out for a total of 8 days, first four were dry camping, last four we had water and electric hooks ups. Same CG, different sites.

The water pooled on the left side of the toilet but was DEFINITELY leaking from either the flush valve or hose that connected the valve to the shut off. Could not figure out a patter when and why it would happen. I tried to tighten valve/hose connection but had difficulty getting pliars onto the fitting due to the proximity of the wall to the back of the toilet.

Suggestions would be welcomed!

Toilet is very easy pull to get at the valves and hose connections. The valves are pretty cheap so if I was pulling toilet I'd go ahead and get a new valve. When you install new valve make sure and use Teflon seal tape on the threaded hose connections. I do cold weather camp so I keep a spare flush valve in my tool bag.
