Your post slid by me. With the stock toilet there are typically two bolts that hold it down. Not sure what type of toilet you have...the one in my unit has the foot pedal, you have to squeeze the front plastic base cover from the sides, it pops out and then you can see the bolts. In a lot of cases the bolts may be stripped, if that happens you only have a couple of options, one is to snap the bolts or cut them with a hacksaw. Or you can try and hold the bolt with a small vice grip while turning the nut. As far as replacement, there are quite a few that will fit. My current replacement is a Thetford Bravura (sp?) I would have prefered a china bowl, but after some thought I am not sure I want to add anymore weight to the rear bath unit that I have.

I'm bringing this back to life because I believe I have solved the problem of the deteriorating metal ring. Well, I didn't solve it myself, I just found the answer.

I grabbed the "brass ring" at Lowe's for $7. It lines up nicely and looks like it will work well without me having to try and get the flange out of the tank.

Oh, I called Thetford to ask their service line a few questions, and they were really of no help. They almost had an attitude, and I just bought a new Thetford toilet!
