Unhappy Toilet and/or sink installed over the wheel wells??

Please help settle a debate with me. I was told by someone with great expertise (he is one of the gurus here on the forums) that installing a sink or shower or whatever over wheel wells is a bad idea. The words were "you can't". Our Tradewind is a double axle and the new wheel wells have been fabricated.

When someone with this level of knowledge says "you can't" or "you shouldnt", I am the one who says, "OK" and does things the way that you CAN. Someone in my home says differently because he doesnt see why it would be a problem.

Can some out there tell me WHY this would or wouldnt be a problem? Please help.

Thank you,

Hi,
I will be very interested also with reasons why you can't
as i have already installed side shower, sink and toilet over my wheel arch in my 73 overlander, we wanted to have rear fixed bed rather than the original layout, i also have a friend with a 76 Overlander in the UK, and his had the side bathroom layout as original but i did not see it before he started his refurb.
FYI, my toilet is the thetford cassette type. as we are not geared up in the uk for black waste tanks.

Cheers
Tim

Our 76 Sovereign center bath sink is installed over the curb side well wheel as is the shower seat. Like that from the factory.

The conventional RV toilet would be a different matter though IMO. Not saying that it could not be done but you would likely be required to elevate the toilet a substantial amount in order to clear the WW.

I'd say whoever told you that is confused. Newer Airstreams with center baths have the bathroom sink, shower, and toilet all mounted either over or next to the wheelwells.

Maybe older Airstreams are different, but our 2012 has the shower on one side and toilet on other side of the trailer and both are over the wheels.

All my old ones came from the Factories (Ohio and Calif) with those areas built over the axles and wheel wells..

If you want the black water tank right under the toilet then the axels would get in the way of the tank. My center bath shower seat is right over the wheel well but the tanks are aft of the axels. The toilet is towards the rear of the bathroom and the black tank is under it.

Our '97 25' Safari has a center bath. The sink is over the wheel well, shower stall just behind, and toilet next to the wheel well.

Thank you for settling this...I thought there must be some issue I don't know about with putting stuff over the wells. I think the person was thinking out loud about our process to finishing our layout.

I appreciate the responses. Asking these questions is more a matter of easing my anxiety than anything.

Now we can move on with me freaking about something else instead!

By the way we are going to be using the Natures Head composting toilet which means no black tank!
