Source for old thetford toilet parts?

We've got an old thetford aqua magic toilet that has what looks to be the water intake piece broken off. I called thetford today to see if they could help and they thought the toilet was too old for any of their current parts. (the guy thinks it might be an aqua magic 2 or something).

I would hate to have to buy a brand new toilet just cause of one part. Does anyone know of resources where one can find old thetford toilet parts?

Any help is appreciated.

That toilet is the same as mine. It is still made and parts are available.

If it's a Galaxy - Starlite this should be the part your looking for. Mine broke also and had to be replaced. My opinion - the stiff copper pipe connected to it will crack it from vibration over time. We replaced the feed line with a 5 foot flexible stainless line and appropriate brass fittings to keep that from happening again. It was also much easier to reinstall.

My fill valve leaked because it had frozen and cracked. It is at a low point so unless it is purged with air it will freeze and break. I think you can buy the complete toilet for a few times more than the valve costs.

Hi all...

Thanks much for your quick replies. I apologize for not responding sooner - shortly after I posted I ended up heading to the ER for blood clots.... 2 in my lungs and another that stretched from the top of my leg down to the ankle. Eeeeeek!

Anyhoo. Back in business and am looking at your feedback.

The toilet was in a 1967 globetrotter but, when I look at the bottom of the toilet there is a stamp on a part that reads 1970. Not sure it's supposed to be a year stamp (maybe a manufacture stamp?)

I've attached a couple pics of the thing to see if anyone recognizes the exact model.

Thanks again!

There appears to be a tag on the rear of the toilet - is there any model number information there? Any chance you can post a picture of the broken valve - there are still a lot of parts available for vintage Thetford toilets.

Hi Ganglin....

Indeed there is a model number- 1400 it says.... Here are pics of the tag and the broken part itself (figured I'd get one from several angles in case it would be helpful). IT may very well be the one (or a similarly version) to the one you sent a URL for.....

Thanks for your help!

If you look at the attached chart and the information about replacement part 44-0860 replacing 09869 since it is obsolete. Then see both parts - they are still out there.

Thetford Permanent Toilets, Part No. 09869, Ball Valve Repair Package (New)

Look like the part you need...?

Need help for an Aqua Magic Galaxy 30 circa 1973 Need step mechnism

Greetings,

Really could use some help here as I don't want to replace the toilet since the replacement called for does not fit the space in my 73 Trade Wind. My problem was the bowl would not hold water....I pulled the toiled and figured I would replace as many parts as possible since I had it off. I have all the seals but need the step mechanism (the part with the levers and sliding blade). Can't seem to find anything out there except post 1985. Can anyone offer a suggestion. I also need the low profile model since there is a storage cabinet behind the toilet. I think it's still a good toilet if I can rebuild most of what I see...I plan to replace the ball valve, all seals, clear plastic water lines, clamps, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is not the same model I have, but it is the FIRST picture I've seen with what I think is the vacuum breaker on the back that looks exactly like mine.

I've looked for this same vacuum breaker on ebay and other places. All I can find is a generic replace for the galaxy / starlite models, with is nothing like mine. For my toilet, it even has a third 'leg' coming out of the middle similar to the picture posted here.

Does anybody have any idea how I can get a replacement for this vacuum breaker, or even to repair what I have? Any idea where I can get a manual for my model of Galaxy 40 toilet?
