sideways toilet bowl?

Is there any reason that anyone can think of that would preclude us from mounting a sealand traveler bowl sideways on the riser? We have a 64 globetrotter- it has the fiberglass surround that limits the size of the replacement toilet. We have dry-mounted the Traveller 110 by rotating the bowl 90degrees on the riser. It fits perfectly, but will need longer tubing. We have the original toilet seat from the previous toilet so superfically, you would not know that there was a rotated bowl.

Any other problems that anyone can think of?

Hi and welcome to the forums. I can't help with the specifics of your question about a globetrotter - i don't have a clue.... but I can highly recommend the sealand traveler toilet - we love ours (in a purely noble way - of course) and it has held up well for 2 seasons now. An extra foot or so of water line should be no big deal and so long as the foot pedal is accessable - it sounds like it would work.

Leslie, can you still use the single foot lever on the traveler without modifying the fiberglass surround? I'm restoring a '64 Globetrotter myself and am looking for a replacement for the old swirlomatic.

Hi all..and thanks for the responses. I have not hooked up the toilet yet. We ran out of time before our latest trip to completely check it out after installation- and just returned today. I was planning to do this before the weekend though and will then post results and pics. The way that I have the toilet installed is that you can use the exisint foot lever by removing the left side vent that is in the fibreglass surround. We have modified the supply line tubing so that the existing holes in the fibreglass can be used for the vacuum break in the new toilet. It looks pretty good. I will post pics before the weekend.
