Shower wall replacement

I have a 1976 International Sovereign 31' center bath. I am replacing the tub with a new fiberglass one from Inland RV, and will also replace the walls which appear to be a laminated wood with vinyl on inner shower portion. They are 3/16" (0.19") thick according to the manual. I was talking to an RV repair shop and they recommended a piece of Fiberglass Reinforced Wall Panel (FRP) laminated to a piece of wood for replacement walls. The FRP is only 0.09" thick, so I would need to laminate it. Has anyone done similar? Is there a wall product that is fiberglass and already 0.19" (3/16") thick that I can use? I would need it on three walls, two of which will have curves cut to conform to the trailer's body.

Great question. I've thought of doing the same, but mine is in good shape so I hate to tear it out. I've considered using an epoxy paint, but then worry about eventual peeling, etc.

For your situation you could glue the FRP to a sheet of Masonite.

I replaced my "wallpaper" with the same material as tub surrounds are made of. I used the correct PL 700 Tub Surround adhesive. This was in my 1976 Sovereign, and for the first 2 years had no problem. Then the adhesive started to let go, and a couple of places started to crack. I blame it on the temperature swings that we have in Canada -40F in the winter to 100F in the summer. Job was time consuming but was very pleased. Used silicone caulk on the joints. Chris

About to do this on my shower wall. I decided to replace the wall with new wood and coat the shower side with whitenose from por15. It's a 2 part epoxy paint that will be waterproof. Thought of coating the wood with fiberglass epoxy but decided on the whitenose since it has a longer working time and since the tub sink etc will all be getting same treatment to get rid of nasty yellowed color plastic.

I plan on priming the wood well, several coats with sanding in between to get the wood grain smooth from swelling when primed. Plus it'll keep the wood from soaking up the whitecoat like a sponge, it's expensive. Then when it's got a nice smooth primed surface I'll probably brush the whitecoat on with one of those mini 6" rollers in foam, it's supposed to level well and has a good long working time so it won't be to hard to paint the whole thing with a single batch mixed.
Before I do though I'm going to call por15 and talk to them for advice, figure out what primer would be best. Did it before when I used regular por15 , they were helpful then. Did same call with krylon and Benjamin Moore, all were very helpful .

why not use a piece of formica laminate, like what is used on kitchen counters, etc? Thats what my original bulkheads appear to be.
I still haven't decided if I'm going to re-do my bulkheads in natural birch, or just put back the originals. But If I do replace with natural wood, I'd have to do something like this for the shower wall.
