Shower Wall Coverings - What are my options?

Subject pretty much says it all.

I wanted to do a copper shower wall with a laminate from chemetalco.com. No go, they're not supposed to get wet period, let alone longterm exposure to water.

I really don't want a plastic shower wall. What other options are there?

Paint or fiberglass sheets.

A good fiberglass fabricator could make some flat sheets for you, in most any color. Cut them to size, install them, with sealers on the seams, and I think your wish could be a reality.

what about alum. sheets? or frp (I think stands for fiberglass reinforced plastic) sheets from Home Depot? or stainless steel? or just hang a shower curtain? Could do just about anything except tile, I'd think. -tim

Stainless steel...looks like aluminum (sort of) but won't oxidize or scratch as easy.

We used a product called SpreadStone on the formerly "wallpapered" wall of our '75 Argosy's forward shower wall (SpreadStone Coating) We purchased this remarkable product, made in Canada, after a demo at the Ace Hardware in Blythe CA.

After stripping, cleaning,& priming the wall, the remaining luan had some rough spots & was deemed unworthy of a fairing job. This product allowed us to lightly texture the wall, hiding the imperfections. Surprisingly, SpreadStone is flexible & has withstood the rigors of several California trips (yes, there are pot holes in I5!) without cracking. Since it is used on countertops as well as floors, it can withstand shower stall water.
Whatever you use, sheets or a paint on product, follow Andy's advice & seal ALL of the seams.

Hello... We used a shower kit and used contact cement and it is standing up really well and looks good..... we took the old vinyl wall covering off first and glued it to the luan
